Portugal once had a world empire, a worthy rival to its Spanish and British counterparts.  Thus, it should come as no surprise when Lisbon is discovered to be a truly great city with its historic roots, maritime tradition and an easygoing charm about its people.  Indeed, if there is a country in Europe well worth tracking on a map and then visiting, then it is Lisbon, the capital city of the proud Portuguese. 

 But before you do hop on a plane bound for Lisbon, remember that it is best to book your holiday apartment online for two reasons.  First, you want to devote most of your time to city explorations instead of apartment hunting.  Second, you will enjoy the benefits of online reservations such as the ease of completing transactions by the click of the mouse.

 Once settled into your holiday apartment, you want to find maps of the city.  This way, you can efficiently plan your itinerary in Lisbon with more focus on the places to see and things to do that hold more interest for you and your group.  Keep in mind that you are on holiday, not on a permanent residency status so you might want to gain maximum ground, so to speak.

 Fortunately, Lisbon is not a difficult city to navigate, thanks to its distinctive neighborhoods as well as its logical layout.  The trick is in knowing which of the neighborhoods to start loving while in Lisbon.  Now, that is where the map of Lisbon comes in since you can readily identify the neighborhoods and then plan how to hop from one place to the next with as minimum effort but as maximum enjoyment as possible. 

 You will also need a transport map to take the tram lines.  This is often the fastest way to get to your destination while seeing the sites.  Well, of course, you can always walk so as to enjoy the vibe of the city while hobnobbing with its friendly people. Plus, you might also get a guide to walk you through some of Lisbon's attractions and answer some of your concerns about the city map. 

 And speaking of attractions, you should never miss seeing Bairro Alto.  On the map, it is accessible via the Baixa/Chiado subway station or through the funicular coming from the Restauradores Plaza.  You must also viist the Chiado, which combines historical sites with upscale shopping stores, not to mention that this is where the nightlife is at its most frenzied.  And of course, you absolutely have to enjoy the Baixa area, which you will not need a map for considering its planned layout. 

 Lisbon is a city to love.  So, get your maps out and see how to get there, plan your trip and book your holiday apartment.
